Beth Faiman argues that patient support services are integral in her role as a nurse because they aid in getting patients the treatments they need, promote adherence, and provide patient education.

Patient support services are really important to our patients with multiple myeloma. I all ready mentioned that when you have the right drug for the right patient, one of the challenges is actually getting that drug to the patient, and having them understand how to take it. This is a specific concern with the oral oncolytics, because the high copays that might be involved, et cetera.

The patient support services are really intrical because there are people within each pharmacy and each pharma company that are dedicated to help get the drugs to the patients that need them.

I think that that helps me as a nurse in the clinic so much to have those resources for our patients. Not only getting the drugs there, but providing education, helping with adherence and facilitating refills. These are all very important to the improved care of our patients.
