Study shows higher mortality rates among survivors of heart failure diagnosed with cancer
In a study involving 596 patients with heart failure, researchers determined that heart failure survivors are experiencing an increase in cancer diagnosis rates. Veronique Roger, MD, coauthor of the study and director of the Mayo Clinic Center for the Science of Health Care Delivery, and colleagues found that this increase could be a result of treatment side effects, heightened surveillance, or other causes.
The study is published online in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
