Although stress reducing and educational, PSA screening decision aids do not change patients’ testing choices, study shows

A new study by Kathryn Taylor, PhD, professor in the Cancer Prevention and Control Program at Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, and colleagues shows that although informational printed and Web-based PSA testing materials were found to reduce patient stress and provide necessary education, the materials did not change the minds of men who had already chosen to either proceed with or decline the prostate cancer screening.

The study is published in JAMA Internal Medicine.
