Study shows effectiveness of combination imaging system when restaging recurrent prostate cancer

A study led by Matthias Eiber, MD, of TU Muenchen in Munich, Germany, demonstrated that when compared with positron emission tomography and computed tomography (PET/CT) imaging, a combination PET and magnetic resonance (PET/MR) imaging system was more effective in locating metastases in patients with recurrent prostate cancer.

The study was presented at the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging’s 2013 Annual Meeting.
