Nuovo Regina Margherita Hospital researchers determine women can undergo initial virtual colonoscopy years later than men

In a study involving 7620 patients who received an initial virtual colonoscopy, study lead Cesare Hassan, MD, of the Nuovo Regina Margherita Hospital in Rome, Italy, and colleagues observed a greater incidence of advanced cancer disease in male patients and those of older age.

These study results may be beneficial when establishing virtual colonoscopy screening guidelines.

The study is published early online in Cancer.
