UCLA researchers describe a new procedure, a combination endoscopy and laparoscopy surgery, which aids in the removal of large polyps
In a study of removal procedures for large and deeply embedded polyps, UCLA researchers compared the outcomes of combination endoscopy and laparoscopy surgery (CELS) in 5 patients with the outcomes of standard polyp surgery in 9 patients.
Study results showed that both the length of time to complete the surgery and the patients’ hospital stays were shorter with the CELS procedure.
The study is published in the journal Surgical Endoscopy.
