Fertility Preservation Discussions Need Improving for Young Female Cancer Patients

TOP - Daily

A recent study involving patients treated for cancer at United Kingdom hospitals shows that when compared with young male cancer patients, young female cancer patients are unhappier with the quality of their fertility preservation discussions with their doctors

Results from a study by researchers at the University of Sheffield and The Children’s Hospital, Sheffield, involving both male and female cancer patients between the ages of 13 and 22 years show that less than half (40%) of female cancer patients were pleased with the fertility preservation discussion provided by their doctor, while 64% of male cancer patients were pleased.

The study is published in Pediatric Blood & Cancer.
