Study reveals lower breast cancer screening recall rates with the combination of conventional digital mammography and tomosynthesis

In an analysis of 13,158 mammography screenings, of which 6100 were combined with tomosynthesis, Brian M. Haas, MD, from Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, CT, and colleagues discovered that overall breast cancer screening recall rates were reduced by 30% when screenings were implemented using both digital mammography and tomosynthesis.

The study is published online in the journal Radiology.
