Animal study shows higher percentage of drug delivered to lungs via inhalation

A recent nanomedicine development by Oleh Taratula at Oregon State University and Tamara Minko and O. Garbuzenko at Rutgers University and the Cancer Institute of New Jersey includes a chemotherapeutic drug inhalation delivery system for the treatment of lung cancer. In a study involving laboratory and animal testing of the inhalation system, researchers observed a reduction in other organ damage and an increase in the percentage of drug delivered to the lungs.

The study is published in the Journal of Controlled Release.
