ACPE Awards NCCN Accreditation to Provide Continuing Education Credits to Pharmacists

TOP - Daily

The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) recently granted the National Comprehensive Cancer Network® (NCCN) continuing education accreditation through June 2013. This authorization is essential to oncology pharmacists who require up-to-date and evidence-based educational programs based on the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines™).

The NCCN recognizes the oncology pharmacist as an important member of the multidisciplinary treatment team for individuals with cancer. According to the NCCN, pharmacists have vital roles in the medical decision-making process as they treat individual patients and assist with drug use policy.

Many Web-based and live educational programs intended to meet the specific needs of oncology pharmacists are offered through NCCN. ACPE accreditation is also offered at the upcoming NCCN 6th Annual Congress: Hematologic Malignancies™ on September 9-10, 2011, in New York, NY.

According to the ACPE Web site, “ACPE is the national agency for accreditation of professional degree programs in pharmacy and providers of continuing pharmacy education. ACPE’s Continuing Education Provider Accreditation Program is designed to assure pharmacists, boards of pharmacy, and other members of the pharmacy community that continuing pharmacy education programs are high-quality.”
